Photography Company Event | Year End Party Boon Edam | 3JS

19 Dec 2011

‘Tis the season for corporate End of Year Parties and we photographed the Boon Edam company party last week inĀ  ‘De Jozef’ in Volendam. ‘Volendam’ was the theme of the party and the many Volendam’ers working with Boon Edam sure liked that. There was a fish shop with raw herring and other delicious fishes, the band Volendam Alive performed, the well known Volendam’er Kees ‘Parre’ Tol was the Master of Ceremonies, they had Volendam snacks and best of all, a show by the famous Volendam rockstars the 3JS at the end of the night. Quite a party!

Just like in former years, we brought our mini-studio set up. And to keep in line with the Volendam theme, we decided to use a chromakey background. We had visited Volendam earlier that day to shoot some backgrond images to use with the chromakey, so we could photoshop everyone into a true Volendam scene. I’m sure Boon Edam is a great company to work for, as the people that work there are so much fun. We had a blast again. Here are some chromakey images.

(Do you recognize anyone in the above image? We shot both Yvonne and Daan’s wedding (a few years ago) and Michelle and Raymon’s wedding (in September of this year!)

Kees ‘Parre’ Tol tought a Volendam lesson or two. If you don’t pronounce the ‘h’ you’re halfway there, but it’s still very hard to understand Volendams:

Accordeon and Volendam Alive.

When the MC announced that the 3JS would start their performance ‘any minute’, I moved closer to the stage. Just like all other ladies there. A girl excitedly whispered in my ear that we stood at the best site of the stage, as ‘Jaap Kwakman will be on this side of the stage!’. Well, I found out I kind of recognizes exactly one of the 3JS’ songs, so the whole 3JS hype is a bit over my head, but they gave the audience a great show!

During Carolyn and Peter’s wedding reception, we set up our lights to create our mini-studio. And while Marco was photographing people dancing and details of the wedding rings, I photographed everyone in our mini-studio. To have a fun link with Germany (Carolyn) and the Netherlands (Peter), they had brought a whole bunch of fun props for the mini-studio. I laughed so hard my cheeks hurt in the end, that’s how hilarious it was. This is a small selection of what I shot that night.

And I’m sharing this one again, just because I can. I literally laugh out loud everytime I see this image. Handsome:

Celebrating Summer in Twisk | summer party

3 Aug 2011

Last Sunday we celebrated summer. It has become somewhat of a tradition that we throw a party each summer. Just because it’s fun and festive. And because we never really have birthdayparties. And because we don’t spent enough time with our families, friends and neighbors. And just because we can. We were lucky, as last Sunday was actually pretty summer-y. It wasn’t very warm, but it wasn’t raining and it wasn’t too cool to be outside. Over 60 people, a meat-filled barbecue, lots of French bread and salads and colored led-lights in our party-tent. I think there were at least 8 professional photographers and 5 keen amateurs and this post has al the images taken that day: exactly zero! So I’m posting a festive photo of Marco, who’s always a willing subject when I need to test my lights and my settings when we do a mini-studio at a wedding. I’ll post more from this fun Dutch/German mini-studio soon, but for now I wish you all a warm, balmy summer. And a big thanks to everyone who was at our Summer Celebration last summer!

During Charlotte and Hans’ wedding party (here you can find the blogpost of their wedding day) we brought our mobile mini-studio again. It’s been a hit with ‘our’ brides and grooms for years! The mini-studio is usually set up at night, at the party, so that everyone can have their photo taken with us. Charlotte and Hans didn’t want a traditional reception album with signatures, and instead we’ll be creating a beautiful and fun album from all the mini-studio images. It’ll be a great guest album.

At De Wolfsberg we were in a separate room with our min-studio. We are usually in the same room as the party, so that everyone can see where we are and what we’re doing. When I saw that we’d be in a different room, I wondered if people would come. I need not have worried about that! The mini-studio was busy all night and almost everyone got their photo taken. Some people came back numerous times for more images. Awesome!!

Even the band Boundless came by during their break.

A great and fun addition to “our” couples’ wedding coverage is our mini-studio during their wedding reception. I don’t think I’ve shared mini-studio photo’s on our blog yet this year, so here are a few that we shot a while ago. Beachclub People was Annette and Andries‘ wedding venue and during the party, we set up our mini-studio outside on their porch. Awesomeness!

The groom and his parents:

All the wedding guests loved the mini-studio and many of them had their photo taken multiple times

.

One of our ‘mini-studio fans’ (who had his picture taken numerous times) wanted to take a photo of Marco and me with the bride and groom. Sure!
