Virginia en Bram | industriële trouwfoto’s en Landgoed Te Werve

28 Jul 2011

Virginia and Bram came to our studio with a very specific request as regards their wedding photography: no cliches, no ‘cute’ photos, no images that a well-meaning uncle could have taken. It had to be cool, it had to be different and most of all, it had to be ‘them’. So we looked for an industrial location not too far from their wedding venue and we found Lijm and Cultuur (‘Glue and Culture’)!

At the morning of her wedding, Virginia was home with her parents. Bram and his parents came there to pick up Virginia. Virginia waited for her groom upstairs, and only after Bram had shown his limbo-dance moves was he allowed to see his bride.

And I guess I’m a sentimental old lady, but the moment when the bride and groom first see each other on their wedding day….. It’s always a very special moment of the day to me!

We then went to  Lijm and Cultuur for an amazing photosession. What a great location for a photoshoot, it made me totally happy!

Lijm en Cultuur is great for cool wedding pictures – we could have stayed a few more hours shooting away, but duty called: a wedding had to take place. Not to be missed!

The bridal guests had already assembled at Landgoed Te Werve. The bride and groom arrived in style: on a retro scooter!

Nice intimate moment right before entering the ceremony.

The ceremony itself was pretty special as well: the ‘real’ ceremony was preceded by a few beautiful and entertaining stories, told by  Peruan storyteller Nilo Berrocal.

And to make the wedding ceremony even more personal, Virginia and Bram chose to recite their own personal vows.

Meanwhile, a ‘ringwarming’ took place, where the wedding rings went from one guest to the next, while everyone gave the rings a silent blessing while holding them.

As many of Virginia’s family members had come all the way from Indonesia, she had arranged for an interpreter to interpret the stories and the ceremony for them. Hence the headsets.

A little different composition for the bride and the couple’s shoes. Check out those high heels!!

Do you think maybe the ceremony was a bit long for the couples’ niece and nephew?

After the ceremony, Virginia and Bram walked outside through a haze of bubbles and rows of friends and family. What a special day it was!

A few detail shots: the gorgeous white callas with cute little purple flowers and the rings in red gold!

Family portrait | grandkids in the studio

20 Jul 2011

Grandpa and grandma recently celebrated their 40th anniversary – and what better gift than a beautiful photo of the grandkids! These grandparents received a gift certificate for a photosession in our studio ánd a nice enlargement for their wall. And since Iris and Pieter’s ‘other’ grandma and grandpa would also celebrate their anniversary, the ‘other’ grandkids came along as well. And that’s how our studio turned into a bit of a playground on a nice Sunday morning a few weeks ago. Kids, parents, grandparents, everyone participated in the shoot and got to be photographed. And even though the first photo on top of this post is mostly very funny, the next two photos were selected as gorgeous enlargements for the respective grandfathers and grandmothers. Framed in beautiful silver frames – a perfect gift!

If you would like to do a photosession with your family, please contact us to book your spot in our studio! We like to photograph little ones early in the day, and Saturdays and Sundays are usually the only days where everyone can get together, so you’ll understand that those spots are the first to book up!

Sandra and Jochem | wedding in beachblub Wit Sand

9 Jul 2011

If there’s one thing that was very clear at Sandra and Jochem’s wedding day, it is the fact that this is a very special couple that is meant to be together. And they love to share their happiness with the people they care about. Their wedding day didn’t start at home, in Amsterdam, or at the bride’s parents’ home, no, they decided to celebrate their wedding day in Noordwijk. Growing up, Sandra always loved going to this beautiful quaint town at the beach and isn’t it wonderful to wed in the town where you have so many fond memories! Sandra stayed in one of the very nice hotel rooms of Villa de Duinen,. Her sisters helped her get into her wedding dress – and right then, Sandra started to get just a little nervous: this was the ‘real thing’!

Meanwhile Jochem was already at Villa de Duinen and he patiently awaited his bride. Or was he a little nervous himself as well?

There was a very nice lunch for the bride and groom’s closest friends and family and there were speeched in between the courses. Stories about rollercoasters, busy lives, curly fries and Neptune made the time fly.

Great moment between the groom and the bride’s grandfather. And a photo of the bride, who, while her guests have already left, is waiting for the retro VW van to take her and her father to the wedding venue exactly on time.

The wedding took place in Wit Sand, the hip beachclub on the Noordwijk beach. This is Sandra with her father, in silhouet.

The cute flower girls and boys with their little baskets with rose petals proceeded the bride.

The weather wasn’t cooperating much, but the terrace’s cover made it into a nice intimate location. And as the ceremony couldn’t take place outside, on the beach, the registrar emptied a bucket of sand, so the bride and groom would have sand under their feet during their ‘I Do’s’ after all. The registrar only performed the official part of the ceremony, touching speeches by the father of the groom, the mother of the bride and the masters of ceremony made it into a very personal affair: beautiful!

It stopped raining after the ceremony, so we could go outside as well. We took a few spontaneous group portraits there.

All guests wrote their well-wishes on a heart-shaped card, to put on the ‘wish tree’.

Later that day, after cocktail hour and barbecue, we had time to create some gorgeous photos of the bride and groom. We walked along the beach and on the Noordwijk boulevard and somewhere along our walk the bride and groom even climbed under a fence…..

While we were busy with the photosession, all guests changed into their dancing shoes. The bride and groom didn’t really want an official ‘first dance’, but the bridal party couldn’t resist doing ‘something’ to help start the party in an appropriate manner. So they asked everyone to bring a pair of old shoes, that were painted gold with huge cans of spray paint by a few girls. When we got back to the venue, there was a pair of golden shoes for Sandra and Jochem as well. And with a nice tale by the bridal party, the dancing started and the party got going in a big way.

There were peonies everywhere and the bridal bouquet was gorgeous as well: roses with blackberries!
