Daisy | the trimmer. What a papillon looks like underneith.

29 Apr 2011

Daisy got so warm all the time. And her coat had been trimmed before, but yesterday I told the girl at the dog spa to ‘cut it nice and short’. I thought I had been clear about keeping the Papillon-features: flowing hair on her ears, hare feet, a nice long tail… When Marco went to get her, I got a shocked text message: “Uhhmmm…. is this Daisy? Are you sure?”. Oh well. It will grow back. And until then, I will start laughing uncontrolably every time I see Daisy. Followed by her looking at me hurt and accusingly and turning her back to me. Can’t blame her.

Two images from a while ago. This is what it used to looked like.

Charlotte and Hans | Wedding at De Wolfsberg, Groesbeek

22 Apr 2011

Charlotte and Hans got hitched at De Wolfsberg in Groesbeek. They were very lucky to have beautiful weather, so their wedding ceremony took place outside. Prior to the ceremony they had planned for a nice, long photoshoot. The couple really wanted to go to JPR Shearing, the metal scrap company owned by the groom. What an amazing location for a bride and groom, we don’t get to see that much contrast every day!

We started the day capturing the bride and groom getting ready.

Left Hans in the wedding car’s reflection (a super cool Bentley), on the right Hans seeing his bride for the first time.

This series was shot at JPR Shearing. What a great location!

For some change of scenery, we also took some photos at the wedding venue: De Wolfsberg in Groesbeek. A beautiful venue with a gorgeous view.

Applause from all the guests when Charlotte and Hans arrived!

The outside ceremony.

The wedding cake was extra special: made by Charlotte herself! She creates awesome cakes (check her website!)

Such a nice car always seems to attract a crowd.

First dance.

Wish balloons – a wonderful end to a wonderful day!

This past weekend we shot a great engagement session at Terschelling island. And that’s all I can tell you about that, as the photos are for the couple’s wedding invites and all the details are top secret of course. But it did make me realise that I haven’t yet posted any photos of Saskia and Remco’s engagement session last winter. They got married in March, so it’s safe to assume the wedding invite is no longer a surprise for their friend and family. Saskia and Remco own Winner Yachts, a shipyard in Enkhuizen, and that’s where we went for their engagement shoot. They really wanted the IJsselmeer to be part of their shoot, but they didn’t want the photos to only show boats. It had to be mainly about them and their adorable daughters. It was nice and sunny that winter day, but terribly cold. I can hardly imagine now that Spring has been feeling like Summer these days!

A photo session for an extra personal wedding invite is a great idea. And another upside: you get used to our cameras. And us…

Last week, a very inspiring blog was born: We Love Weddings: a collective of professional wedding photographers who see each other as colleagues rather than as competition. Each photographer in the group writes blogposts for the website, from Real Weddings to tips & tricks and lots of experiences. Marco and I are proud and honored to be part of this group of enthousiastic people! I could tell you lots and lots more here, but why don’t you just check out the website, read the posts and be inspired!

Saskia and Remco | wedding photography in the Zuiderzeemuseum

5 Apr 2011

Sneekweek is famous for being a lot of fun. And as a real sailor, Remco went to Sneekweek each year. And even though Saskia wasn’t a sail person at all, one year she decided to check out what Sneekweek was about. And at a big party, Saskia and Remco’s eyes suddenly met and they locked. The rest of the world didn’t matter at that moment, they only saw each other. It’s been a few years since that memorable Sneekweek and Saskia has got the sailing virus now as well. They now own Winner Yachts, a shipyard where they build beautiful sailing boats. We took their engagement session and the photos for their wedding announcement at the shipyard and it was quite a sight for us!

Last week, these wonderful people tied the knot. The four of them, as, obviously, their daughters Nynke and Jenthe were there as well. The groom got ready at a friend’s house, the ladies were at home.

Saskia puts in her earrings while Remco arrives.

Remco awaits his bride at the bottom of the stairs.

Great look!

The wedding ceremony took place at the Enkhuizen Zuiderzeemuseum (the South Sea museum). We did the photosession at the open air museum as well. It was a bit chilly, but that didn’t stop us. Every once in a while Remco would warm his bride’s hands in his own hands, so sweet. The girls were there as well and were true super models.

The cute little church in the middle of the Zuiderzeemuseum.

A friend of the groom’s, and a witness to the wedding, held a great speech which made the ceremony even more personal.

After the ‘I Do’, not only the bride and groom exchanged wedding rings, Nynke and Jenthe received their own rings as well. Adorable!

The wedding cake was cut in Coffee House Hoorn, also in the museum. Both daughters and grandma looked on attentively..

Grandma and grandpa had a beautiful gift for the bride and groom and recalled memories of sailing trips with a very young Remco. Sailing is definitely in this family’s genes.

After the wedding cake was cut, we took the formal family portraits. After that, we went to the Amsterdam House in the museum, for the reception. All the guests made a beautiful row of honor with helium baloons that they let go after the bride and groom had walked past.

The bride’s brother had styled the entire interior of the Amsterdam House.

Great idea: all the guests left their best wishes for the bride and groom on a sail.

This amazing wedding day ended with an intimate dinner party at the Smederij in Enkhuizen, with the best friends and closest family of the bride and groom. Remco held a touching speech and then the bride and groom had a special announcement to make. Both fathers also speeched. All in all, it was a wonderful and memorable day!

Do you see the wedding announcement on the gorgeous dinner table? It was used for the menus as well.

Finally, the rings – on the backside of the wedding bouquet, as the pretty pink ribbon was held in place by cute purple hearts!
