Last week I blogged a few images from Madeleine and Ton’s engagement session. They celebrated their wedding last Friday. Ton reads our blog regularly and saw ‘their’ blogpost, so he sent me their wedding invitation yesterday. With persmission to blog it for you guys. Cool! So here goes: their wedding invitation in the style of a movie poster, sent out in A3-size. Images by Marco and me, design by Madeleine and Ton:
Later this week, Madeleine and Ton will tie the knot and we are already looking forward to their wedding day! A while ago they came into our studio for their pre-wedding photoshoot or engagement session. The photo’s from this pre-wedding photoshoot were used for their wedding-card-that-wasn’t-a-card and will be appearing throughout the wedding.
When we do an engagement session for the wedding announcement, we usually do the design for the cards, but in this case the bride and groom designed their cards themselves. Ton is a photographer as well and he had a pretty set idea of what he wanted for their wedding invitation: a large print in A3-size in the style of a film poster, with the outlines of a silhouette image “filled” with other images of the two of them. The result is amazing. I should really ask Ton to share the design with our blog readers, but I don’t want to add anything to his ‘to do list’ this close to his wedding day! But believe you me: the invitation is awesome! These are a few images used in their card. The first photo is used as their silhouette image that is ‘filled’ with lots of other images. Wicked
Hai first laid eyes on this beautiful lady when she played the piano during mass at his church. He was very impressed by her and they chatted for a bit that day. After that first short meeting, they would meet every now and then and they would usually exchange some small talk. Always in English, as they didn’t know where the other was from. Until a good friend pointed out to them that they are both from Vietnam – so they might as well speak Vietnamese together! Their acquaintance turned into friendship and their frienship turned into love. And their love will be sealed with a wedding in Vietnam in October. But before then, they really wanted to get some amazing portraits done from themselves in their wedding attire. To take back to Vietnam and show their friends and family on their wedding day.
Maria is a concert pianist and it was her dream to have a photoshoot in a theatre. We found that we could photograph in the Amsterdam Concert Hall Kleine Zaal (Small Hall) and they even put a grand piano on stage for us to use as a prop!
What an awesome location – especially for a pianist! We could have photographed here all afternoon – and the stunning bride and handsome groom made it even easier to get great shots.

And since we were close to the Museum Square, we went there for a few photo’s as well. Fierce groom!
Sadlly, we won’t be coming along to Vietnam to shoot Maria and Hai’s wedding, but with these images there will be a little bit of a ‘Dutch wedding’ in Vietnam after all!
